Flight Simulator Operator (Guest Services)
Title: Max Flight Simulator Ride Operator (Guest Services Support)
Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum’s vision is to be a force of curiosity and courage for kids of all ages to gain the confidence to take flight. Going into our 26th year of operations, we are on a trajectory to become a world-class aerospace experience center. We are seeking part time employees to join our Guest Services crew and Weekend operation of the Max Flight Simulator Ride. Must be available to work Saturday and Sundays.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Max Flight Simulator Ride Operator and Guest Services Support sets the tone for each guest who visits the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museums. Operates a point-of-sale (POS) system with cash register and process various transactions according to what guests decide to participate in during their visit at the museum. This position requires an effective communicator who can provide outstanding service to internal and external customers by demonstrating a friendly demeanor, respect, courtesy, and empathy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate the Max flight Simulator ride.
- Assist custodial services as time allows.
- Support max flight repairs in coordination with the IT Manager.
- Assist with the preparation and de-install of museum exhibits & events
- Assists with managing stock and inventory for the Guest Services Departments
- Supports customer service and guest experience operations.
- If assigned to tea admissions desk; sell admission and movie tickets, Museum memberships, and tours (including the Spruce Goose); upgrades sales whenever possible and ask point-of-sale survey questions when necessary.
- If assigned to the theater, assists in the projection booth, turns on projectors and theater/lobby lights.
- Adheres to all EASM policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Greets guests in a welcoming manner and applies outstanding service to all internal and external customers each workday.
- Communicates effectively with department managers, docents and other coworkers in a collaborative team effort to best represent the Museum’s core values and mission.
- Must be flexible and willing to provide excellent guest services in more than one department, depending on the day-to-day operational needs determined by department managers.
- Responds calmly and professionally to guest concerns and complaints by taking corrective actions by policy or procedure or to refer them to supervision when needed.
- Maintains the highest standards of safety possible while providing a safe, fun, and clean environment.
- Reviews and completes, as needed or directed, the daily tasks list for each department: Admissions, Retail Gift Shop and Theater.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) months of cashiering, cash handling, and customer service experience is preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have or obtain an Oregon Food Handler’s card within 30 days of hire.
- Any combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of meeting exact qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Outstanding customer service focus in interacting with internal and external customers during assigned shift/position.
- Experience in or ability to cashier on a point-of-sale register making cash and credit transactions.
- Ability to follow and make correct decisions within established procedures, especially regarding cash handling and credit card transactions.

- Ability to handle moderate periods of complex work in dealing with regular and irregular work situations, emergency situations, and diverse personalities.

Education Instructor (SUMMER CAMP)

POSITION SUMMARY
Summer Camp Education Instructors will deliver Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum curriculum to K-8th graders over the course of one-week long camps.
This position requires a dynamic individual with experience educating diverse students in group settings.
We are seeking a teacher who is compassionate, creative, patient, and highly organized to join our Education Team.
These summer camps offer exciting aerospace opportunities, including hands-on activities, problem-solving projects, and unique museum tours.
Curriculum is provided with all activities and materials determined and reviewed with the instructor in advance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging curriculum for aviation and space-themed summer camps.
- Create an environment where the sky is the limit, experimentation is encouraged, failure celebrated, and students are encouraged to collaboratively problem solve.
- Supervise youth with Camp Assistants in order to facilitate a fun, interactive, and welcoming environment.
- Instruct Summer Camp Assistants in prepping materials and classroom for hands-on activities.
- Prepare and maintain classrooms to create an effective learning environment and inspire the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.
- Communicate effectively with students, guardians, and staff about programming.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited university
- 5+ professional experience in any field, level, or capacity (references encouraged)
- 2+ experience working in educational settings, especially with K-12 school-aged children
- 1+ year experience in classroom management (any age and classroom size)
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Degrees or coursework in education, instructional design, classroom management
- 5+ experience working in education, especially with K-12 school-aged children
- Certifications in teaching / instruction from an accredited institution or organization
- Experience with students of diverse learning abilities, needs, and styles
- Experience with aviation and space education a plus
- Background in STEAM education, especially coding, AI, robotics, or ART a HUGE plus
- Consistent availability on afternoons, weeknights, and weekends
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to engage students with a variety of learning styles.
- Ability to continually evaluate and modify existing curriculum to achieve maximum engagement with students.
- Ability to create a fun environment for students and staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, in writing and orally across various media, that adhere to confidentiality and protocol.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Good classroom management experience, including time management, coordination, and organizational skills.

Food & Beverage Café Lead
Lead Café Associate – Aviator Café
Position Summary
The Lead Café Associate plays a key role in delivering high-quality food preparation and exceptional guest service at the Aviation Café. This position requires a strong communicator who consistently demonstrates respect, courtesy, and empathy while supporting both internal and external customers. The Lead Café Associate helps oversee daily operations and ensures a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assume full responsibility for café operations, including opening and closing, in the absence of the Café Manager.
- Assist with onboarding and training staff on food safety, equipment use, and service standards.
- Support labor management by assisting with scheduling and ensuring staff breaks are taken efficiently.
- Provide daily feedback, coaching, and recognition to staff to foster accountability and team pride.
- Oversee cash handling and point-of-sale systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering and deliveries with the Café Manager.
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and accuracy meet established standards.
- Prepare and assist in preparing food promptly, adhering to portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality expectations.
- Set up, maintain, and break down food preparation lines.
- Operate dishwashing equipment or manually clean kitchen tools and store items properly.
- Maintain stocked stations and rotate products to prevent shortages and waste.
- Handle and store food and supplies safely and appropriately.
- Assist with prep work, cleaning, and other duties during downtime.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, surfaces, and kitchen areas according to procedures.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines in compliance with health regulations.
- Use time, materials, and equipment efficiently to minimize waste and costs.
- Address guest concerns professionally and resolve issues or escalate when necessary.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with guests, staff, docents, and VIP visitors.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of food and beverage or line cook experience required.
- Must have or obtain an Oregon Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire.
- Must have or obtain an OLCC card within 30 days of hire.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
